Youth Track & Field is an exciting, high-energy sport that builds speed, strength, confidence, and teamwork while giving young athletes the chance to discover their potential. With a mix of running, jumping, and throwing events, athletes of all abilities can compete, set personal goals, and celebrate improvement in a fun, supportive environment. Each Athlete can compete in up to 4 events per Meet/Invitational. Continue below to learn more about each Track and Field Event.

A short, explosive sprint that tests pure speed and fast reaction time. Athletes race straight down the homestretch of the track giving maximum effort from start to finish. You cannot cross lanes and you can start from either standing or 3 point starting position.

This half-lap sprint combines speed with the ability to maintain form through the curve and the straightaway. Runners must stay powerful while managing fatigue. Runners start staggered on the far turn into the homestretch and cannot cross lanes.

A full-lap sprint that challenges both speed and endurance. Often called one of the toughest races, it requires strong pacing and mental toughness. Runners start staggered and cannot cross lanes.

A middle-distance race that blends sprint speed with endurance over two laps around the track. Athletes must use strategy and timing to finish strong. The starting point is the same as the 400M and staggered. Runners stay in their lanes for the first 100M near turn, then migrated towards inside lane after breakline.

A longer-distance race of four laps focused on endurance and consistent pacing. Runners learn discipline, race strategy, and mental strength. The starting point is the same as the 400 and 800, usually grouped together in several lanes. You must be in 3rd grade to compete.

A fast-paced team event where four runners each sprint 100 meters. Smooth baton exchanges and teamwork are just as important as speed. Exchange points are in each corner of the track.

A throwing event using a kid-friendly javelin designed for safety and fun. Athletes develop coordination, technique, and upper-body strength. Most Meets allow 2 to 3 attempts based on the amount of teams competing.

A power-based event where athletes throw a weighted shot as far as possible. Proper form, balance, and strength are key to success. There are two different weights based on the size of the Athlete.

A jumping event that combines sprinting speed with explosive takeoff. Athletes aim to leap as far as possible from the takeoff board into the sand pit. There are usually two pits at each Meet and Athletes may get two attempts.
